Replay: Feedback Moment
A session rebuilding a real feedback moment, given or received, with your alternative reply evaluated.
This session reconstructs a real feedback event and first distinguishes whether you were giving or receiving the feedback. Your alternative response is then evaluated with the rubric for that role instead of forcing one standard onto two different directions. Identifying your role in the feedback event, writing an alternative response, and reviewing it usually takes about 8 to 16 minutes, depending on how much detail needs clarification.
What's included
- The product preserves the real difference between giving feedback and receiving it, with different behavioral criteria for each role.
- When giving feedback, analysis focuses on situation, behavior, impact, and the forward request; when receiving, it focuses on openness, clarification, and ownership of the next step.
- Any projection of the other person's reaction remains a single limited and cautious step and never becomes a full substitute conversation.
- You can see how the quality of giving or receiving feedback changes across comparable attempts instead of relying on personal impression alone.
- The result is framed as evidence about improvable behavior rather than a judgment about professional identity in a real feedback event.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this tool and just replaying the situation in my own head?
Mental replay can blur the difference between being the giver and the receiver. Here the role is identified first and different criteria are used for what was actually required from you.
How accurate/reliable is the evaluation of my alternative response?
The evaluation measures the alternative response against the role specific rubric and cites your own text. It does not claim to know what the other person would have said in a different scenario.
Who specifically benefits from this exercise?
It is useful for managers, team members, and anyone dealing with performance or behavioral feedback who wants to improve how the message is given or received.
How long does building the situation and evaluating the alternative response take?
A straightforward feedback event can take about 8 minutes, while a more layered one may take up to 16 minutes when behavior, interpretation, clarifying questions, and follow up all need attention.
What do I do with my result?
Choose one point from the result and apply it within the same role: greater specificity about behavior and impact when giving, or a clarifying question and follow up action when receiving.
Can I retry the same situation?
Yes. You can retry the same event, and from the third attempt onward a written reflection on what changed in your understanding is required. Each session credit covers one situation card with up to 5 evaluated attempts.
Is what I recount about the situation treated as established fact, or as my own memory of it?
Your account is treated as your personal memory of the event, not as independently measured fact. A memory fidelity flag indicates how much caution is appropriate.
Will the app tell me what the other party would actually have said or done?
No. When the event involves one counterpart, the tool may offer only a single bounded possibility for that person reaction, with cautious to moderate confidence and only from details you reported. It does not create an extended substitute conversation.
What if revisiting this situation is psychologically distressing for me?
If two or more approved distress indicators are present while feedback is being reviewed, evaluation stops and the user is directed to Soul before any additional analysis. The feedback event is not turned into a diagnostic tool.
Does a low score mean I failed to handle the real situation?
No. A low score means that behavior in the alternative response needs development within the selected role. It is not a final judgment about the real event or your professional worth.
