Replay: Negotiation
A session rebuilding a real negotiation with a known outcome, with your alternative reply evaluated.
This session reconstructs a real negotiation with a known historical outcome, then helps you write and evaluate an alternative negotiation response. The system does not rewrite history or turn the alternative response into a deterministic number for what you would have obtained. Reconstructing the negotiation, drafting an alternative, and reviewing interests and options usually takes about 12 to 20 minutes, depending on the complexity of the terms and original outcome.
What's included
- Practice is tied to a negotiation that actually happened and clearly separates the known historical outcome from an alternative that never occurred.
- The response is evaluated for clarity, assertiveness, recall integrity, and absence of manipulation rather than rewarding dark pressure.
- Any alternative outcome view remains a probabilistic range with explicit caution and never becomes a point estimate that suggests certainty.
- You can compare how your framing of interests and options changes across rubric compatible attempts without claiming that the market or counterpart would have behaved in a specific way.
- The result helps improve negotiation behavior itself without turning a real negotiation into a pass or fail test.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this tool and just replaying the situation in my own head?
Thinking alone can make one sentence seem as if it certainly would have changed the outcome. Here the quality of the alternative response is separated from any claim about what would actually have happened.
How accurate/reliable is the evaluation of my alternative response?
The evaluation measures your written negotiation behavior against a stable rubric. Any view of an alternative outcome remains probabilistic and never becomes a replacement historical fact.
Who specifically benefits from this exercise?
It is useful for someone reviewing a completed negotiation who wants better framing of interests, options, and boundaries while avoiding manipulation and dark pressure.
How long does building the situation and evaluating the alternative response take?
A simple negotiation may take about 12 minutes, while a negotiation with several terms or tradeoffs can take up to 20 minutes to separate the known outcome from the alternative response.
What do I do with my result?
Use the result to revise the interest, request, or options, then try another response without converting stronger wording into a claim of a certain financial outcome.
Can I retry the same situation?
Yes. You can retry the same negotiation, and from the third attempt onward you must state what changed in your understanding before another attempt is accepted. Each session credit covers one situation card with up to 5 evaluated attempts.
Is what I recount about the situation treated as established fact, or as my own memory of it?
Your account is treated as your personal memory of the negotiation and its original outcome, not as an independent objective record. The memory fidelity flag shows how much caution is appropriate.
Will the app tell me what the other party would actually have said or done?
No. In a one-counterpart negotiation, the tool may offer only one bounded possibility for how the other party might react, with cautious to moderate confidence. Any alternative outcome remains a probabilistic range rather than a point value or guaranteed result.
What if revisiting this situation is psychologically distressing for me?
When at least two approved distress indicators appear during negotiation review, evaluation stops and referral to Soul comes before any further interpretation. The session is not used to diagnose you or the other party.
Does a low score mean I failed to handle the real situation?
No. A low score points to negotiation behaviors in the alternative response that can be improved. It is not a final judgment about the real negotiation or your general capability.
